My desire to live close to a major city is nearly always in conflict with my desire to stay true to my roots of a small town farm girl. Cue one of my favorites from 1998; a Dixie Chicks song: 'Wide Open Spaces'.
I fall in love with any place that even comes close to a combination of my love affair with the city life and country living. The latest to have stolen my heart was found on the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia. A community that was created with intention and inspiraton, known as Serenbe. Serenbe is an urban community, 25 minutes south of Atlanta that’s nestled in 1,000 acres of forest. Described as "a neighborhood full of fresh food, fresh air and focused on wellbeing".
Developed by a husband and wife visionary team, this intentional community was developed to be a thriving arts community, not like that of traditional deelopments this community boasts, distinct and varied architecture, granite curbs and eclectic lamp posts. They have even started offering Tiny Houses for Artists. With the endless amounts of inspiration that Serenbe was created to offer I naturally started browsing the real estate in the area and found a Live/work space For Sale in the community at 9077 Selborne Lane. Couldn't help but daydream about all the jewelry that I would design, the books I'd read and the wine I'd drink in the space.
Acres of preserved forests and miles of nature trails, cute restaurants a community theatre and what appears to be a utopian dream of a community; it is truly "A place in the clouds, a foundation of stone...."
Serenbe has officially stolen my heart from afar.
